Obituary for Mrs. Janice R. Wert

Janice Ruth (Reichard) Wert, 88, of Kutztown, and formerly of Lenhartsville, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 in Kutztown Manor, Inc.

 

She was the widow of The Reverend Donald W. Wert, who died on October 7, 2010, and with whom she celebrated 56 years of marriage prior to his passing.

 

Born in Allentown, Janice was a daughter of the late George and Ruth Reichard and was a 1951 graduate of Catasauqua High School. She continued her education by attending Kutztown State College, now Kutztown University, where she received both her bachelor's degree and master's degree in Elementary Education.

 

Mrs. Wert was employed as a Teacher and Educator by The Kutztown Area School District for 26 years, primarily as a sixth-grade teacher at Kutztown Elementary School until her retirement. Janice most recently attended Ziegel's Union Church, Breinigsville, but was involved with many other congregations throughout the years while her husband was a Pastor.

 

In her free time, Janice enjoyed traveling, history, and watching sports, especially the Phillies.

 

Mrs. Wert is survived by her children, twin sons, Robert Thomas Wert, Hamburg and Ronald Timothy Wert, and his wife, Andrea, of Lyons; and son, Randall Todd Wert, and his wife, June, of Lenhartsville; sister, Sandra (Reichard) Wert, Stroudsburg; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

 

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Janice's life will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA with The Reverend Andrew W. Meckstroth officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will be held privately in Union Church Cemetery, Neffs, PA.
