Obituary for Andrew Egidius Moll

Death of A.E. Moll; No death has occurred in Olathe in recent years so sad as that of 'Giddy' Moll, who passed in that last sleep at 1 o'clock last Friday morning. His sickness, which began Tuesday about noon, was at first not considered serious, but his condition gradually grew worse and after three days of suffering, after all that human power could do had been done, he died, surrounded by his family and loved ones.; His death is almost heartbreaking to his family and relatives, and has brought great sorrow to the community, for 'giddy' was everybody's friend. he was a good boy. A nobler, kinder heart than his could not be found. The error which brought his bright young life to a close was of the mind--not the heart.; The funeral was held at the Congregational church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The procession was accompanied from the sesidence to the church by a number of friends and was preceded by a large delegation from the two Odd Fellow's lodges of Olathe, of which order he was a member. A number of ladies were also in attendance from the Rebekah lodge.; The church could hold but a few of the great number who gathered to pay a last tribute to their friend. The body rested in a plain casket in front of the altar, and was almost surrounded by wreaths of flowers--beautiful, silent tokens of love and friendship.; The minister spoke words of comfort and encouragement to the sorrowing family and friends from and appropriate text, and spoke of the kindly nature and generous heart of the dead young man. He brought the thought strikingly home that 'In the midst of life we are in death.'; The long line of carriages that accompanied the body to the cemetery was a testimonial of the friendship and esteem in which the head young man was held in Olathe.; Olathe News-Herald, Thursday, August 3, 1899
