Obituary for ROBERT WILLIAM BISH

Robert W. Bish, 90, passed away on May 7, 2015, at Kavanagh on 56th Street in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born in Des Moines on March 1, 1925, to Leonard and Margaret Bish.

Robert enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942, he was a Seaman on the USS Massachusetts. He was an Engineer with Honeywell for 40 years and he enjoyed bowling, driving stock cars, hunting and fishing.

Robert has been a Master Mason since 1979 with Plymouth Lodge #160 in Minnesota.

Robert is survived by his girlfriend of 8 years, Ethel Pegelow; children, Ted (Carol) Bish, Danny (Rita) Bish, Tim (Alicia) Lowe, Cyndie (Bob) Toth-Steiniger, Mary (Everett) Thrasher; grandchildren, Shelly, Dawn, Robbie, Hope, Phillip, Patty, Sunshine, Joey, Jacob, Randi, Shannon, Tricia, Brandi, Angie, Ashley, Jake, Shannon, 30 great-grandchildren and 14 great great-grandchildren; Sisters, Lillian Lohmann, Millie Piper; cousin David (Mary) Keply; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Edie; brothers, Lawrence and Clarence, and sisters, Betty, Vivian and Jo.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
