Obituary for Robert L Stephenson

AUSTINTOWN - Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for Robert L. Stephenson, 85, who passed away Feb. 6, 2014.

He was born in Struthers on March 27, 1928, the son of George and Hazel (Krimmer) Stephenson.

He attended Struthers Schools and was a World War II and Korean War veteran. Robert retired from Aerotech Mechanical Contractors. He enjoyed traveling to Germany with his wife, woodworking, and NASCAR and had made several trips to the Daytona 500.

His wife, Grete, whom he married Sept. 30, 1947, while stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany, passed away Nov. 24, 2000.

Robert is survived by his two daughters, Silvia (Jim) Van Horn of North Jackson and Ruth (Al) Snavley of Canfield; an estranged son of Austintown; two granddaughters, Melissa (Chris) Lindley of Hudson and Nancy (Eric) Ensley of Austintown; three great-grandchildren, Olivia Grete, Annabel Grace and Elliott Christopher Lindley of Hudson; and a brother, Kenneth (Joan) Stephenson of Austintown.

The family would also like to give a special thanks to his best friends, Bob Hartman and Tom Lanterman, for all the help and support given to him and his daughters over the years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a half-brother, George Stephenson; a brother, James Stephenson; and two sisters, Ruth Engelhardt and Dolores Ledsome Leiter.

Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, where family will again receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will take place at the Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
