YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services were held for Kassim Elgabri, who passed away Feb. 2, 2014.

Kassim was born June 10, 1929, in Aden, South Yemen, and was the son of Kassim and Monmena Amed Elgabri. He came to America in 1956.

He retired from Republic Steel as a rail worker.

Kassim leaves to cherish his memories, his sons, Manna (Zahara) Elgabri, William (Asia) Elgabri, and Kassim (Robin) Elgabri; as well as a daughter, Candy Duble; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Mohsin (Samie) Elgabri, Mohammed Elgabri, and Abdul Elgabri; and a sister, Fatima Elgabri.

He married Norma Moore Elgabri on March 3, 1958, and who went to join him only eight hours later.

Besides his parents, Kassim was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Cernik.

The Elgabri family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home.

Interment will take place at Green Haven Cemetery.
