Obituary for WALTER CHARLES CLARK

Walter Clark, 86, was born April 12, 1927 in East Chain, Minnesota, the son of Russell and Olive Clark. He passed away January 22, 2014 in Des Moines.

Walter was an Army Veteran, proudly serving his country during World War II. He married Peggy Coobs on November 28, 1948. He was an accountant for Swift Independent Packing Company for 40 years, retiring in 1989. Walter was a member of the Lion’s Club, American Legion, and was an active member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Des Moines. He was also a member of the Auburn Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years.

Walter lived at Sun Valley Lake for 10 years and was an active volunteer in the community. He enjoyed fishing, walking and boating, but most importantly, cherished his family and his time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Walter is survived by his children, Charles (Jane) Clark and Kimberlee (Kevin) Eidson; grandchildren, Cami Clark, Kelsey (Chris) Davis, and Derek Eidson (Natasha Ratzlaff); great-grandchildren, Taylor Eidson and Brady Davis; and sisters, Doris Siddall, Irene (Robert) Onnen, and Ida Belle Paterson. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Clark, and siblings, Leora Moore, Vernon Clark, Warren Clark, Norman Clark, and Florence Metcalf.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 4525 Beaver Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.
