Obituary for WILLIAM EARL WAY
William E. Way, 89, was born September 20, 1924, in Des Moines, Iowa, son of Frank and Helen (Smith) Way. He passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013.
William retired from Weitz as an Iron Worker. He attended Grandview Lutheran Church and was a member of Iron Workers Local 67.
William is survived by his children, Sharon (Bill) Slagle, Billy (Shirley) Way, and Cathy (David) Steiner; grandchildren, Todd Slagle, Ty (Vicky) Slagle, and Tracey (Tedd) Norman, Lana (Jason) Ballard, Billy (Kathy) Way, Staci Steiner, and Cory Steiner; great-grandchildren, Trevor Slagle, Ty Norman, Jordyne Slagle, Katie Ballard, Kenzie Ballard, Brandon Way, Madeline Steiner, Callie Kae Steiner, Asher Steiner, and Ella Steiner; as well as his siblings, Wilma Stitzell, Mary Hunt, Charles Perkins, and Danny Perkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Bernice (Ackelson) Way; second wife, Helen Way, and five siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Oakwood United Methodist Church, 400 NE 56th Street in Pleasant Hill. The family will receive visitors Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
