Obituary for Raymond Blakemore

Services for Raymond L. Blakemore, 87, of Wickliffe, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Willoughby United Methodist Church, 15 Public Square, Willoughby. The Rev. Donald R. Perks will officiate. Mr. Blakemore passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, at his home. Born Nov. 17, 1925, he was a lifelong Lake County resident, having lived in Wickliffe since 1950. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a very active member of Willoughby United Methodist Church for the past 75 years. He was also a member of Willoughby Lodge 302 Free and Accepted Masons and volunteered at Project Hope in Painesville. He most especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Blakemore was employed as a crane estimator at the former Cleveland Crane and Engineering Company in Wickliffe for 26 years. He also worked at the former Diamond''s Men''s Store at Euclid Square Mall for nine years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eileen (Parrish) Blakemore; children, Sandra Roberts, Stephen (Ellen) Blakemore, Sharon Gallman and Scott Blakemore; grandchildren, Trisha, Clint, Scott, Matthew and Jill; and great-grandchildren, Callie, Charlie, Jake, Zach, Katie and Taylor. He also leaves his brother-in-law, Charles Kuebler; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Blakemore; and many nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mary (Cando) Blakemore; sisters, Elizabeth Presley, Dorothy Kuebler and Mildred Wilson; brothers, Charles Byers, Kenneth Blakemore, Donald Blakemore and Harold Blakemore; and his son-in-law, Walter Roberts. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the Funeral Home. Final resting place will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township following the service.
