Obituary for Ernest L. Fagin

Graveside services for Ernest Fagin, 87, of Painesville will be 11 a.m. Friday at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, 11521 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Spiritual leader Renee Blau will officiate. (Family and friends are asked to please meet at the cemetery.) Mr. Fagin passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at his residence. Born April 2, 1926, in Cleveland, he had been a Lake County resident for more than 50 years, living in Wickliffe before moving to Painesville. He was a member of Temple Am Shalom in Mentor, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II, and a member of American Legion Post 336 in Painesville and the Masonic Lodge of Painesville. In his leisure time, he enjoyed bowling. He was the loving stepfather-in-law of Ollie E. Smiley; cherished grandfather of Scott A. Smiley; and uncle of Andrew Kenen and Thomas Kenen. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jo (nee Brennan) Fagin, who passed away in 2010; loving stepdaughter, Deborah A. Smiley; grandson, Gregory J. Smiley; parents, Harry and Anna (nee Michael) Fagin; and siblings, Elaine Fox and Betty Kenen.
