Obituary for Nellie M Mountz
NELLIE MAE MOUNTZ
POLAND – Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, 65 N. Broad St., Canfield Chapel for Nellie Mae Mountz, 88, of Woodlands Assisted Living in Poland, formerly of Canfield, who died Saturday afternoon at her residence.
Nellie was born July 9, 1924, in DuBois, Pa., a daughter of the late John Edward and Mabelle Mae Shivly Halowell.
She graduated from Struthers High School in 1942 and had worked in administration for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company for over 40 years, retiring in 1983.
Nellie was a former member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), a member of the AARP No. 3104, Canfield Chapter, the Alumni Association of the A & P Tea Company of Youngstown and Cleveland for 36 years and a member of the retired senior volunteer program.
Her husband, Malvern C. Mountz, whom she married Aug. 17, 1951, died Dec. 18, 1993.
She leaves three nephews, James R. Halowell, John Halowell and Terry Halowell and a niece, Penny Lindsey.
Besides her parents and her husband, Nellie was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Halowell, James W. Halowell and Edward Halowell; and a niece, Diane Halowell Davis.
Friends may call on Wednesday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel, from 5 to 7 p.m.
