Obituary for Maynard G Rising

Services for Maynard Glenn Rising, 91, of Willowick, will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Willo-Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. David Hackney will officiate. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Final resting place will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township, immediately after the service. Mr. Rising passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013, at his home. Born Nov. 15, 1921, in Grafton, he had lived in Willowick for the past 63 years. He was a member of Willo-Hill Baptist Church and loved to be involved in Christian work. He loved gardening and playing rummy. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He also earned his pilot''s license during his military service. Mr. Rising founded his own insurance agency, M.G. Rising and Associates in 1950. He retired in 1986, when his sons, Mark and Jonathan, purchased the agency. Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Bernice T. (Kaufmann) Rising; children, Mark (Connie) Rising, Cynthia Rising and Jonathan Rising, all of Willowick, David (Melissa) Rising of Muncy, Pa., Jane (Bill) Minich of Willoughby Hills, Ellen (Vince) Morris of Wheaton, Ill., and Brett Rising of Kirtland; grandchildren, Jennifer Giesel, Kara Rising, and Danielle and Heather Minich; and great-granddaughter, Adriana. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families. His parents, Henry and Bertha (Koepke) Rising; brother, Willard Rising; and sisters, Wilomene Pohzehl and Myrna Woellert are deceased. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in care of the family.
