Obituary for John H. Farmer

John H. Farmer (1939-2013) John H. Farmer Funeral services for John H. Farmer, 74, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Painesville Baptist Church, 140 Park Road, Painesville. John died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, in Bradenton, Fla. He was born Feb. 23, 1939, in Panther, W. Va., to John Stewart and Nancy Katherine (Lester) Farmer. Mr. Farmer was a self-employed truck driver for Osborne Concrete and Stone in Grand River. John enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, playing cards and gardening. He was always ready to visit and talk with family and friends. Mr. Farmer was a member of Masonic Lodge 302 F. and M. in Willoughby. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Dorothy “Dot” (Hill) Farmer, whom he married on Nov. 21, 1958; daughters, Michele (Sidney) Collins of Perry, LaDonna “Donnie” (Greg) Cox of New Bremen and Tonya (Bryan) Niemeyer of Minster; grandchildren, Christopher, Sharon, Morgan, Jared, Calib, Adam, Jonathan, Jacob, Alyssa and James; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Richard John, Casey, Ardynn and Reid; sisters, Elena (Harry) Goode of Glen Bernie, Md., Evelyn (Arthur) Mulkey of Madison, Ann Garrett of Bradenton, Fla., and Teresa (Kevin) Domin of Painesville Township; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Farmer was proud of his three daughters. He loved and was very proud of his grandchildren. He thought it was important to teach them a good work ethic and life lessons. John was a sports fan and loved watching his grandkids play sports, especially football and baseball. Mr. Farmer was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nancy Katherine Farmer; and his brother, Ronnie L. Farmer. Interment will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township. Contributions may be made to the Painesville Baptist Church Building Fund.
