Obituary for Violet Eckis

VIOLET M. ECKIS BERLIN CENTER – Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St., for Violet M. Eckis, 87, who died early Monday morning at her residence. Violet was born Jan. 29, 1926, in Salem, a daughter of the late Henry A. and Jane M. Taylor Kale and was a lifelong area resident. During World War II, Violet made canteens for Strong Manufacturing Company of Sebring. She was a homemaker, a member of the Berlin Center Historical Society and AARP. She leaves her husband, George J. Eckis, whom she married Oct. 4, 1945; two daughters, Sandra Schooley (Mike Illencik) of Austintown and Georgia (Tom) Cochran of Canfield; a brother, Press A. Kale of Buena Park, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Violet was preceded in death by a daughter, Bridgitte Bowling; sister, Betty Barringer; and a brother, Henry J. Kale. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel.
