DOROTHY HARRIETT JONES
WARREN – Dorothy Harriett Jones, 89, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Shepherd of the Valley in Warren.
Born April 29, 1923, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Thomas M. and Alice (Chirilla) Lyons. She came to the Mahoning County area in 1946.
She retired in 1985 after 15 years of service as the secretary at the Poland Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church.
Dorothy was the former President of Woodside PTA, Secretary of the Austintown PTA Council, Secretary of TRAIS Chapter of Eastern Star, member of the Miriam Chapter of Eastern Star for over 71 years, past President of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 301, past President of Austintown AARP No. 4339, member of the Transylvanian Saxons, member of the Austintown Historical Society, past President of the Women’s Association of Grace Lutheran Church, Secretary of the church council and various other offices.
Survivors include her children, James R. (Joyce) Jones of Newark, Sandra (Ken) Dillon of Cortland, Marjorie (Don) Vollenweider of Georgia; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother Robert Lyons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur S. Jones, in 1998; her parents; and brothers Jack and Thomas Lyons.
Friends will be received at the Lane Family Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel on Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Austintown.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at the church.
