Obituary for Ann Kravec Grillo

Ann Grillo, age 92, of Ansonia passed away peacefully on January 17, 2013. Ann was the beloved wife of 49 years to Charles C. Grillo who passed away in 1991. Ann was born in Ansonia on November 17, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Gabriel and Mary Karpinowich Kravec who immigrated from Russia. She was a lifelong resident of Ansonia and a faithful member of Three Saints Orthodox Church. Her husband Charles participated in the specialized welding of the new Church dome in 1955. Ann was an employee of W.E. Bassett Company for 20 years, until retiring in 1985. Ann was an avid gardener and an exceptional cook and baker. She was an expert in crocheting coverlets and clothing with intricate stitching. She will be remembered for her generous and caring nature and her warm easy spirit. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Carolyn Morse of Ansonia and her devoted son, Charles J. Grillo and his wife Fern of Derby; brother, Anthony Schurawich and his wife Irene of Shelton; cherished granddaughters, Eileen Morse Lawlor and her husband John of Ansonia, Linda Morse Gray and her husband Michael of Derby, and Susan Morse Foley and her husband Thomas of Ansonia; and seven beloved great grandchildren: Tierney, Rorey, Grady, Shanley, Quinlan, McKeon and Sheahan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Fred Kravec. Ann’s family would like to thank Nancy Osiecki, Theresa Domorod and Karen Yakabowskas for their loving and diligent care. We are so very grateful to these special ladies. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 8:30 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 AM in Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Ave., Ansonia. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call on Tuesday morning, prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Three Saints Maintenance Fund.
