Obituary for Bernard Madeya

Bernard H. Madeya, 82, of Eastlake, passed away Dec. 29, 2012, at Lake Health West Medical Center in Willoughby surrounded by his family. Born Aug. 20, 1930, in Wickliffe, he had lived in Collinwood before moving to Eastlake 52 years ago. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Mr. Madeya retired as a machinist at Eaton Axle in Cleveland and had worked with his son as carpenter for many years. Survivors are his children, Karen (John) Sabol, Mark (Christine) Madeya, Patricia (Thomas) Tenney, Diana Ropos, Michelle Paris, Helen (Rick) Leonard and Elliot (Chris) Jones; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren with two more on-the-way; sisters, Alyse (Jerry) Brys and Nancy (John) Organiscik; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frieda and Gustave Madeya; brothers, George and Arthur Madeya; and son-in-law, William A. Ropos Sr. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township
