Obituary for Ronald E Menold

RONALD ''RON'' EUGENE MENOLD GROVELAND, FLA. – Ronald “Ron” Eugene Menold, 72, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2012. Ron was born in Youngstown, on Aug. 11, 1940, to Cecil Eldred Menold and Ruth Edna Bates, who both preceded him in death, along with his siblings, Cecil (Mickey) Menold, Gloria Menold Vrabel, Ruth Elaine Menold Conte, Richard Lee Menold, Judith Menold Eliseo, Laurel Adrieanne Menold McMahon, and Howard E. Menold. Ron is survived by his beloved wife, caregiver, best friend, and soul mate, Deanna Mae Evans Menold, whom he married on April 19, 1963; his daughters, Deborah Menold Reaves (David) of Yorktown, Va. and Cheryl Menold Weaver (Dale) of Purcellville, Va.; son Ronald Eugene Menold II (Kathy) of Florence, N.J.; and his four grandchildren, Brandon Dale Weaver (attending Virginia Tech), Tyler Matthew Reaves (attending University of Virginia, College at Wise), Kaitlyn Mae Weaver (attending University of Virginia) and Ryan Eric Menold of Fredericksburg, Va. He is also survived by his youngest brother, Terrance Alan Menold (Kathy) of Stow; and bother-in-law Robert Russell Evans (Renee) of Leesburg, Fla. Ron was a 1958 graduate of North High School in Youngstown. Soon after graduation, he served in Korea with the U.S. Army. He worked 25 years for the U.S. Government as a communication technician and an IT specialist and traveled to more than 40 countries. After retirement, in August of 2002, he fulfilled his dream to reside in Central Florida. Some of Ron’s favorite hobbies were Amateur (Ham) Radio, computers, and gardening. Ron was a member of the Korean Service Veterans, Chapter 188, Groveland. He recently entered the RCIA program of St. Paul Catholic Church and was baptized, confirmed and received Holy Communion in November of 2011. His faith grew stronger each day as he prepared to be with the Lord. The family would like to thank the members of St. Paul for all of their support and prayers, particularly the Ministry to the Sick, who brought the Eucharist to Ron each week. Also, the family extends a special thanks to the team from Cornerstone Hospice. A celebration of life Mass was held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1330 Sunshine Ave., Leesburg, FL 34748, on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 1:30 a.m. Interment and prayer service will be held at Green Haven Memorial Gardens Chapel in Canfield on Nov. 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are by the Lane Family Funeral Homes in Austintown.
