Robert J. Goodwin Sr. (1933-2012)
Robert J. Goodwin Sr., 79, of Willoughby Hills, passed away June 26, 2012, at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
Born Jan. 26, 1933, in Cleveland, he had lived in Willoughby Hills for the past 50 years.
He was a member of the Lake County Chiefs Association. Mr. Goodwin served with the Willoughby Hills Police Department for 22 years, as a police officer and as Chief of Police from 1978 to 1983.
Survivors are his wife, Aldene (Speranza); children, Robert Jr. (Patty), Sherry (Jim) Fox and Kathleen Petkovich; stepchildren, Monica DeSanto (Dave Kelly) and Dena Marie Smrdel; grandchildren, Jimmy (Amanda) Fox, Stephanie (Jeremy) Barnes, Jeff (Cassie) Fox, Kevin, Brian and Rachel Goodwin, Tyler and Amanda Petkovich; stepgrandchildren, Dominic and Mia DeSanto, and Vincent Smrdel; great-grandchildren, Charles, Ella and Luke Fox, Max and Michael Barnes; and sister, Emma Norgrove.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diana (Justus); and mother, Agnes Brown.
Interment will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
