Obituary for FRED CHENEY Jr.

Fred Cheney, Jr., 90, passed away May 1, 2012. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Private burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. Fred was born on October 3, 1921 to Cleo (Chrinster) and Fred Cheney, Sr. in Dixon, Illinois. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and later worked in the manufacturing industry as a sheet metal worker. He enjoyed being with family and was active at his church, Highland Park Open Bible. He will be greatly missed by his sons, Ron (Rikki) Cheney, and Gary (Cindy) Cheney; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and Becky (Ron) Deardorff. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; and his sister, Betty.
