Obituary for Fleta Kurz

FLETA (COOMBS) KURZ POLAND – Fleta (Coombs) Kurz, 89, died March 16, 2012, at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House. Kurz was born May 19, 1922, in Clark County, Ind., a daughter of Ernest and Edna (Anson) Coombs. She married Theodore R. Kurz Sr. on April 19, 1957. Fleta was a 1940 South High graduate. She worked in the dietary department at Southside Hospital, Strouss-Hirshberg Store, Farmers Daughter Restaurant, and had owned her own catering service. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a charter member the New Life Assembly of God Church, where she was a member of the JAM’s. Fleta enjoyed living at the Woodland’s for the last two years and she celebrated life each day to the fullest. She leaves three daughters, Diane Bressler of Warren, Tresa (Michael) Hedrich of Youngstown, and Trina (Andy) Russo of New Middletown; three sons, Theodore R. (Jeanne) Kurz Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla., Thomas (Benita) Kurz Sr. of Poland and Tracy R. (Christine) Kurz of Poland; her granddaughters, Janet (Mark) Donnadio, Erica Kurz and Chelsea Russo; grandsons, Trevis Kurz, Thomas (Charity) Kurz Jr., Jesse and Joel Kurz, and James Russo; five great-grandchildren, Mark Donnadio, Anthony (Melissa) Donnadio, Heather Donnadio, and Zechariah and Jeremiah Kurz; and four great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore R. Kurz Sr.; a son, Ronald Snyder; and two brothers, Gordon E. Coombs and Arthur W. Coombs. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland with the Rev. Bob Reese officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Material tributes may be given to New Life Assembly of God Church, 2250 E.
