Obituary for Marcia Renee Hough
Marcia R. Hough | ORRTANNA Marcia Renee Hough, 62, died Monday, January 23, 2012, at the York Hospital. Marcia is survived by her husband, Frederick L. Hough. She was born April 16, 1949, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of the late Louis and Elaine Weinberger Berwitt. Mrs. Hough was a graduate of Beachwood High School in Ohio. She received a Bachelors' degree from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, and a Masters degree from American University in Washington, D.C. Following college, Marcia taught elementary education in Washington before moving to the Gettysburg area. For the last several years she has taught special needs children in elementary education in the Chambersburg Area School District. She took great pride in teaching reading to her students. Marcia was a music enthusiast who was a lifelong pianist. She was very active as an alto in the Gettysburg Civic Choir. Her other love was nature. She and her husband enjoyed the ocean and walking on the beaches of Assateaque, Va., along with tending to her garden in Orrtanna while watching her hummingbirds. The Arts were also an interest. She enjoyed drama and photography. In addition to her husband, Marcia is survived by a brother, Martin Richard Berwitt and his wife, Iris of Beachwood, Ohio; a sister, Bonnie J. Berwitt of Cleveland, Ohio; and three nieces, Katherine Goldstein and her husband, Ross, Margaux Stewart and her husband, Brian, and Elizabeth Strauss and her husband, Scott.
