Obituary for Robert F Herman

ROBERT F. HERMAN AUSTINTOWN – Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Robert F. Herman, 89. Robert was born Dec. 6, 1922, in Youngstown, the son of Howard “Brownie” and Matilda (Miller) Herman. Bob lived in the Youngstown area until moving to the Carolina’s in 2002. He was a long time member (almost 60 years) of the Wickcliffe Christian Church, where he received recognition as Elder Emeritus. He attended Chaney High School. Robert was a member for over 50 years of Argus Masonic Lodge No. 545, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason, Life Member of Amvets Post 35 of Youngstown and had served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific. During his working career, Robert worked at Republic Rubber Company in Youngstown, Mobil Oil Company, was manager of Youngstown Mannerchor, Lindy’s Bar, Austintown K-9 Bar manager, US Steel and American Sun Roof Company in North Jackson. Robert is survived by his wife, Blanche “Bunny” (Daus) Herman, whom he married Feb. 21, 1948, at the Chapel of Friendly Bells in Youngstown; son James (Sandy) of Ridgeland, S.C.; granddaughters, Patti Herman Chapman (Shane) of Ridgeland, S.C. and Jackie Herman McConnell (Guy) of Morrisville, N.C.; great-grandsons; Logan and Riley Chapman of Ridgeland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert also leaves sisters Marie (Herman) Deeds, Mae (Herman) Zufall, June (Herman) Sharish and Quanita “Pat” (Herman) Vertucci, all of Youngstown. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Peter, Howard (Bruz), Joseph, Christian “Sandy,” Bill, and Donald Herman, all of Youngstown. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to services. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning at Green Haven Cemetery, with full military honors.
