A memorial service celebrating the life of Marcella Bartels will be held Tuesday August 9, 2011, at 11AM at the Calvary Baptist Church. Marcella passed away Thursday morning. She was born May 23, 1922 in Middleport, Ohio, the daughter of Harley D. and Ida Jane Taylor Cunningham.
Marcella graduated from Middleport High School on her 18th birthday and married the late Robert F. (Fred) Bartels the next day. In 1940, they moved to the Youngstown area.
Marcella was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, it''s Adelphian Bible Class and served in the Cradle Roll Department. She always loved interacting with young children and was able to do that while working in the Austintown School Cafeterias where she retired in 1980 after 26 years of service.
For many years Marcella enjoyed designing and making clothes for her daughter and playing cards. Later in life she loved shopping, crossword puzzles and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Judy Cebriak and husband Tony who she considered a son, two grandsons, Todd (Ann) and Rob (Christina) Cebriak of Columbus, Ohio: two great grandchildren, Alex and Madeline.
Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother Ancil Eugene Cunningham, stepmother Estella King Sanford Cunningham; and a step sister Jewell Mowry.
Marcella''s family would like to thank the staff of Park Vista Assisted Living and the staff on the fourth floor PIC Unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital for their concern and tender care. In lieu of flowers material tributes to Marcella may take the form of donations to the Organ Fund of Calvary Baptist Church at 1463 Shields Rd. Boardman, Ohio or a charity of their choice.
