Obituary for Steven Barnes

STEVEN E. BARNES CANFIELD - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Old North Church in Canfield for Steven E. Barnes, 41, who died Tuesday morning at his residence. He was born March 14, 1969, in Orrville, a son of David K. and Patricia A. (Usher) Barnes. He was a 1987, graduate of Newton Falls High School and the New Castle School of Trades. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was currently working as a materials driver for General Motors in Lordstown, where he had been for 15 years. He was a member of the Old North Church. He was also a member of UAW Local 1112. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Cleveland Browns, and he loved music, formerly serving as lead singer and guitarist for the band Western Border. He is survived by his wife, the former Amy L. Zimmer, whom he married July 3, 2001. He also leaves behind his father, David of Newton Falls; six children, Anthony Barnes, Steven Richardson, Christopher Richardson, Aaron Barnes, Dylan Barnes and Sydney Zebrasky; a brother, Rodney Fowler of Newton Falls; two sisters, Christi (Ron) Turner and Stacey Mangum, also of Newton Falls; his in-laws, Gary and Barbara Grimm of Canfield and Steve and Pam Zimmer of Poland; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia and a brother, Kevin Fowler. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Lane Funeral Home, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, OH 44515, to be used as an education fund for Steve’s children.
