Obituary for Floyd William Diehl

FLOYD W. DIEHL JR AUSTINTOWN – Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Floyd W. Diehl Jr., 85, who died Monday at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. He was born Nov. 21, 1925, in Kittanning, the son of Floyd W. and Lena B. (Bowser) Diehl Sr. and he came to this area in 1958. He was a 1943 graduate of Fountain Hill High School. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. After his military service, he achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University. He worked as chief electrical engineer for Wean United Corp. for over 40 years before retiring. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and he enjoyed making model trains and airplanes. He married the former Betty F. Fehnel, on Nov. 17, 1951, and she preceded him in death on March 20, 2010. He is survived by three children, Craig Diehl of Youngstown, Bruce Diehl of Vienna and Carin (Robert) Barnhart of Poland. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, John Rockney of Las Vegas, Christie Bako of Girard and Cailey Barnhart of Poland; and a great-grandson, Chandler Jones. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call for one hour prior to services from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
