Obituary for Gabrielle M Morris

GABRIELLE M. MORRIS AUSTINTOWN – Gabrielle M. Morris, 77, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, following a brief illness. Gabrielle, who was known to many as “Gail,” was born Feb. 7, 1934, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Robert and Blanche Mahar Patrick, and was a lifelong area resident. She was a 1952 graduate of South High School, and was a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family and her family’s friends, affectionately becoming known as “one of the coolest moms in the neighborhood.” Gail was a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown. She bowled in several leagues at Wedgewood Lanes, enjoyed playing cards, and loved traveling across the country to visit her family. Her beloved husband, Edward F. Morris, whom she married Jan. 31, 1959, passed away June 19, 1994. Mrs. Morris leaves six children, Denise (Ralph) Horton and Gabrielle Morris, both of Overland Park, Kansas, Michele (Scott) Johnson of Shawnee, Kansas, Robert Morris of DeSoto, Kansas, Edward Morris (Rhonda Pesa) of Austintown, and Michael (Rebecca) Morris of Lenexa, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Olivia (Miki) Djerisilo, Laura Horton, Matthew Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Cassidy Horton, Jordan Crum, and Alex Morris; a great-granddaughter, Mia Djerisilo; a sister, Elizabeth (William) Selikson of Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews. Gail will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Besides her husband, a sister, Ruth Weber Cable, is deceased. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, and continue at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church
