Obituary for Bruce C Mook

Bruce C. Mook AUSTINTOWN - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wickliffe Presbyterian Church in Austintown for Bruce C. Mook, 78, who died Thursday night at his residence. He was born Nov. 17, 1931, in Youngstown, a son of Jacob and Edith (Cumming) Mook, and he resided in this area all of his life. He was a 1949 graduate of Youngstown East High School. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He worked as a lineman for Ohio Edison for 43 years before retiring in 1993. He was an active member of the Wickliffe Presbyterian Church, where he participated in the choir and various other activities. He was a member of the Ohio Edison Retirees and he enjoyed bowling, gardening and golfing. He married the former Peggy Davis on Jan. 6, 1952, and she preceded him in death Sept. 9, 2003. He is survived by three sons, Bruce (Carolyn) Mook of East Palestine, Scott (Mary Ann) Mook of Ashland, Va. and Daniel (Linda) Mook of Austintown. He also leaves behind his companion, Jean Scott of Austintown; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Rachel, Josh, Greg and Sarah; and six great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Delbert Mook; and two sisters, Alberta Brion and Ruth Mook. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wickliffe Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund in Bruce’s memory.
