Obituary for Lois G Barnett

Lois G. Barnett YOUNGSTOWN - Lois G. Barnett, 88, formerly of Chestnut Street in Girard, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Oct. 9, 2010, at her home at the Sterling House of Youngstown. Lois was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Punxsutawney, Pa., a daughter of the late Clarence and Sara Couser Colkitt, and came to the Girard area in the 1940s. She was a cashier in her youth at the A&P in Punxsutawney, and after her marriage, dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family. Mrs. Barnett was a member of Four Mile Run Christian Church in Austintown, where she was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Women’s Christian Fellowship at the church, enjoyed going to her senior citizen’s meetings, and cherished the time she spent with her family. Her beloved husband, David M. Barnett Jr., whom she married Dec. 20, 1941, passed away July 23, 1998. Lois leaves two daughters, Arlene (Jim) Holmes of Mineral Ridge and Kathy (Mark) Patterson of Warren; two grandchildren, Kevin (Sarah) Holmes of Girard and Kelly (A.J.) Ylonen of Mineral Ridge; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Alyssa; two brothers, Howard (Betty) Colkitt of New York and Robert (Mary Jean) Colkitt of Indiana, Pa.; and a sister, Shirley Bing of Austintown. Lois will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown. Family and friends may also call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Lois’s family extends thanks to the staff and management of Sterling House for the kindness shown and care given to “Mom” during her stay there. “We love you, Mom!”
