Obituary for John J Terlecky

JOHN TERLECKY LAKE MILTON – Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel in Green Haven Memorial Gardens for John J. Terlecky, 97, who passed away Monday evening, at Long Meadow Care Center. John was born April 27, 1914, in Youngstown, the son of Nicholas and Mary (Katinski) Terlecky. He retired in 1976 from the General Service Administration where he had worked security. Prior to GSA, John worked as a mechanic with Lordstown and had also worked for General Fireproofing. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. John was of the Protestant faith and he was a member of Charity No. 530 Masonic Lodge in Deerfield. John’s hobbies included cars, motorcycles and exploring. He also enjoyed history and geography. His wife of 62 years, the former Carolyn Haladay, whom he married Aug. 25, 1944, passed away April 4, 2007. John leaves four children, Carol (Gary) Johnson and Mary (Don) Burt, both of Lake Milton, Linda (Jeff) Clark of Sarasota, Fla. and John (Marna) Terlecky of Streetsboro; two sisters, Stella Wargacki and Kay (Joe) Wargacki, both of Canfield; eight grandchildren, Mike, Dan, Toni, Angie, Amy, Todd, Charity, Faith and John; as well as 11 great-grandchildren, Kara, Taylor, Daniel, Mason, Hayes, John, Austin, Trinity, Zandra, Jackson, and JD. Besides his parents and his wife, John was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tessy Terlecky, and two sisters, Mary Geric and Ann Chuey. A Masonic service will take place at 2 p.m. followed by a religious service in the chapel at the cemetery. Arrangements are by the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
