Obituary for Angelina Pantalone

ANGELINA PANTALONE CANFIELD - Angelina Pantalone, 81, formerly of Niles, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011, at 3:57 a.m. at the Northside Medical Center following a heroic battle with cancer. She was born Brooklyn, N.Y. on Aug. 13, 1929, the daughter of Angelo and Carmella Rubbo. She graduated as a seamstress from a trade school in New York City. In her early years, she worked in the garment industry as a seamstress for Cute Kiddie Clothes. She was an accomplished seamstress and pianist. She was the Vice-President of Pantalone Paving in Niles. She was a 48 year member of the Highway Tabernacle Church, where she was active in many church activities including, Sunshine Ladies Visitation Committee, Senior Citizens Group, where she frequently played the piano, Bereavement Team, where she helped prepare many dinners and for many years, she was the church pianist and a choir member. She enjoyed baking and was fabulous at cooking Italian Peasant foods. She loved inviting friends into her home for traditional ethnic dinners. Angelina is survived by her husband, John Pantalone, whom she married on Oct. 7, 1950. They had the joy to be together as a family in New York for their 60th wedding anniversary, where the love story began. She is also survived by a son, Stephen J. Pantalone of Canfield; daughter, Carol Ann Pantalone of Canfield; three grandchildren, John Christopher Pantalone of Canfield, Abby Lynn (Aaron R.) Lee of Palm Beach, Fla. and Casey Marie Pantalone of Palm Beach; brother, Daniel (Marie) Rubbo of New York; sister-in-law, Mary Rubbo of Floral Park, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law who she considered to be her sisters, Leah (Don) Johnson of Maryland and Evelyn (William) Davis of Lakeland, Fla.; three brothers-in-law, Benjamin (Fran) Pantalone of Liberty Township, James (Mariam) Pantalone of Niles and Phillip (Jean) Pantalone of Cleveland; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Rev. Joseph Rubbo, Victor Rubbo, Elias, Rubbo and Dominic Rubbo. Calling hours will be today, May 3, 2011, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles. The funeral will be Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Highway Tabernacle Church, where family and friends may also call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Guy BonGiovanni will officiate. Entombment will be at Greenhaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Highway Tabernacle Church, 3000 S. Raccoon Road, Youngstown, OH 44515 in her memory.
