Valent Joseph Galik -- 85

 Services will be 12:00 Monday in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Valent Joseph Galik, 85, of Austintown who passed away early Thursday morning in his home. Valent was born February 14, 1919 in Youngstown the son of Michael and Elizabeth (Stana) Galik. He was a Turn Forman in the Open Hearth for Republic Steel for 30 years retiring in 1969, then for 18 years he worked for the Mahoning County Vocational School in the maintenance department retiring in 1982. He was a member of the church and the 55 plus club in Mineral Ridge, and the Austintown Optimist Club where he was a past secretary and treasure and one of the founders of the club. He leaves his wife, the former Mary Cooper, whom he married February 12, 1945, three daughters; Nancy (George) Zamary of Poland, Joyce (Jack) Fetherolf of Austintown, and Mary (David) Seifert of Girard, two sisters Mary Supko of Austintown, and Betty (George) Krusel of Youngstown, and one brother Stephen (Wilma) Galik of Sandusky. Valent also leaves three grandchildren; Kim (Steve) De Genaro, George (Kim) Zamary and Adam Seifert and two great grandchildren Katie and Hannah De Genaro. Two sisters; Helen and Christina and one brother Michael preceded Valent in death. Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 pm Sunday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to MVI Hospice in Valents name.
