Boardman- Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for John Sabanick of Boardman who died Thursday evening. John was born April 19, 1924 in Youngstown the son Thomas and Catherine Sabanick and was a life long area resident.
Mr. Sabanick was a member of Western Reserve United Methodist Church where he was a very active member, former member of Carpenter (TM)s Local 171 and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, member of the American Legion Post 732 Youngstown
He was the owner and operator of Austintown Ice Cream Company retiring in 1972 and was an avid fisherman. John is survived by his wife Ruth (Creighton) Sabanick whom he married September 3, 1949, sons John Jay and Hope Sabanick of Youngstown and Robert and Linda Sabanick of Austintown. He is also survived by his sister Lillian Martin of New York and his step grandson Lucas Hall.
He was preceded in death by his brother Steve Sabanick, his half sisters Doris Derfiny and Mary Slanco, also his half brothers Andrew and Paul Dovala. Friends and family may call from noon until 1 pm Saturday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of donations to H.V.I. Hospice on Belmont Ave
