Obituary for JONAS W MILLER
Jonas W. Miller, 69, of Madrid died of a heart ailment Saturday at Boone County Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Des Moines, and cremation will follow, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Miller was born in Wapello and moved to Madrid in 1979. He retired as an alfalfa plant geneticist at Pioneer Hi-Bred International and was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Methodist Church, Madrid Library Board, Gideons Boone Rotary and several horticulture groups.
Among survivors are his wife, Jody; two daughters, Ellen Abercrombie of Norman, Okla., and Lynn Quinn of Honolulu; a step-daughter, Terry Whitney of Riverside; a step-son, David McCombs of Des Moines; a grandchild; and four step-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madrid Library building fund, Iowa Arboretum Foundation or First United Methodist Church Foundation.
