Obituary for GEORGE B HENRIKSEN
George B. Henriksen, 71, of the 2200 block of Northwest 72nd Street, Ankeny, died of a heart attack Sunday at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The Rev. Henriksen was born in Brookfield, IL and had lived in various locations, including Hawarden and Des Moines, before moving to Ankeny six years ago. He had been a minister in various locations, including Galilee Baptist Church in Des Moines, and most recently with First Baptist Church in Lorimor, of which he was a member. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Baptist Churches and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 738. He enjoyed traveling and photography.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; two daughters, Cherie Hess of Robins and Cyndie Smidt of Oacoma, SD; three sons, Tom of Pleasant Hill, Tim of Madrid and Rob of Marion; two brothers, David of Grand Rapids, MI, and Lee of Pottstown, PA; and 17 grandchildren.
