Obituary for ROSALIE ELLEN BLACKETER
Rosalie Ellen (Wisdom) Blacketer passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at the Millpond Retirement Community in Ankeny. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 2nd at Westminster Presbyterian Church with burial to follow at Highland Memory Garden Cemetery.
Rosalie was born in Des Moines on August 5, 1922. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and Drake University, receiving a BA in Music Education, serving as President of Alpha XI Delta Sorority and a member of Mu Phi Epsilon International Music Fraternity, Order of Eastern Star and Westminster Presbyterian Church. Rosalie had worked for many years as a legal secretary and enjoyed her music association with Sweet Adelines and The Fred Waring Workshop.
Rosalie is survived by her daughters, Becky Milligan of Des Moines, Vicki Ward (Lou) of Boise, Idaho and Melissa Blacketer (Larry Naylor) of Ames; sons, Steve Blacketer (Sandy) of Westminster, Colorado and Scott Blacketer of Des Moines; thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Berry of California and a sister-in-law, Maxine Wisdom of Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Vic Blacketer; brothers, Bill, Bob and Jack and a sister, Lucille.
A visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Westover Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, 5452 NE 22nd Street in Des Moines, Iowa 50313.
