Obituary for ROBERT KENNETH ZUST

Robert Kenneth 'Robbie' Zust, 21, died of complications of leukemia on Thursday, July 7, 2011 in Houston, TX. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Iles funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel. Cremation will follow the visitation and memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Robbie was born in Des Moines on December 4, 1989 to Joel and Cathy (Lydic) Zust. He graduated from SE Polk High School in 2008 where he was a track State Qualifier in hurdles. As a passionate Iowa football fan, Robbie attended the University of Iowa and enjoyed tailgating at games. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Robbie worked for the office of Hematology and Oncology Center of Iowa. He was a free spirit who enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his friends. His humor and love for life will be greatly missed. Robbie was devoted to his family. His survivors include his parents, Joel and Cathy; two sisters, Sarah (Matt) Miller and Amanda Zust; girlfriend Nikki Hedrick and Nikki's sons, Mason and Brody; grandparents, Joe and Jan Lydic and Bob and JoAnne Zust; great grandmother, Virginia Lydic; many aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robbie's memory may be directed to the Robbie Zust Memorial at Wells Fargo Bank for the future support of families dealing with cancer.
