Obituary for BARBARA LEE MAIN

Barbara Main, 60, died Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, October 21 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines, with visitation one hour prior to the funeral.

Barbara was born January 25, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended DMACC and Drake University where she attained her nursing degree. During her career, she worked at many hospitals, such as Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Brunswick Memorial in Georgia, and Broadlawns and Iowa Lutheran Hospitals in Des Moines. She was a wonderful and caring woman, who spent her life taking care of others, both personally and professionally.

Barb is survived by her husband, Chuck; her daughter, Melisa Wissink; her step-son, Justin Main; Her grandchildren: Hunter and Madison Wissink; her step-grandchildren: Christopher and Emmah Main; and her siblings: Marty (Michael) Turner, James (Debbie) Petersen, and Kent Duntz. She was preceded in death by her mother, Violet Duntz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Breast Cancer Association and Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in loving memory of Barb.
