Obituary for SIMMIE J HILLIARD
Simmie J. Hilliard, 86, of Valley View Village died of a heart ailment there Tuesday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Evangelical Covenant Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Hilliard was born in Jacksboro, Texas, and had lived in Oregon before moving to Des Moines in 1962. He was a retired maintenance supervisor with Valley View Village and an Army Veteran of World War II. He was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; a daughter, Roberta Hoover of Council Bluffs; a brother, James of Chelsea, MI; a sister, Essie Mae Sorenson of Axtell, UT; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call an hour prior to the time of services Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to his church. McLaren''''s Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
