Obituary for Virginia Warren Collins

COLLINS Mrs. Virginia E. Collins, R.N. of Ansonia and previously of Shelton, died Monday at The Griffin Hospital. She is the wife of John R. Collins. Born in Ansonia on August 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Marion (Sullivan) Warren. A retired nurse for the Shelton School System with more than 30 years of service as well as the with the Griffin Hospital with 27 years of service. Virginia and Jack resided in Shelton for 59 years returning to Ansonia two and a half years ago. A communicant of the Church of the Assumption, graduate of the Ansonia High School, Class of 1943 and St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1945 and on September 2, 1950, she and Jack were married in the Church of the Assumption. Survivors are her life long love, John R. Collins of Ansonia; devoted and loving daughter, Lauren Virginia Dempsey and husband, Martin of Ansonia; sister, Marion Neville of Ansonia; loving grandsons, Martin John Dempsey and wife, Keri, and Brenton Richard Dempsey; dear friend, Allissa Rhodes, all of Ansonia; and "littlest grandson, Max." She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Warren. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9 a.am from the Bennett Funeral Home, 91 N. Cliff St., Ansonia to the Church of the Assumption for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery
