Obituary for DOLORES R PROCOPIO

Dolores Regina (Dorman) Procopio, 89, died September 21, 2022 in her Reading residence.

She was married February 1, 1958 in the Most Blessed Catholic Church, Philadelphia to Lavier Samuel Procopio, who died October 14, 2016.

Born July 12, 1933 in her Lewisburg, Union County home, she was a daughter of the late Earl A. and Effie E. (Renninger) Dorman.

Dolores was a 1951 graduate of West Catholic Girls High School, Philadelphia.

She was a member of St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

Dolores was a past vice-president of the Senior Berners; taught round dancing over 25 years; was a past secretary of the South Central Pennsylvania Callers and Cuers Association; and taught strength training for 13 years with Berks County Office of Aging at various locations.

She and her husband also volunteered and taught wheelchair dancing at Berks Heim for years.

A voracious reader, her other pastimes were music, and table games, but her passion was people.  Her family, friends, and caregivers gave her joy, but mostly, they received daily laughter, wisdom, and love from her.

Dolores lived a life of service to others as an Administrative Assistant at Proctor and Gamble, and later as an Executive Assistant to the Administrator of Berks Heim, before retiring in 1987.

Dolores is survived by her four children: Ellen M., wife of Larry R. Kramer of Newmanstown; David S., husband of Coleen A. (Knowles) Procopio of Spring Township; Brenda A., wife of Sean H. Moretti of Lower Alsace Township; and Ronald J., husband of Janie R. (Reinsel) Procopio of Spring Township.

She was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren: Brandon D., husband of Elizabeth “Liz” (Toigo) Epting; Timothy M. Kramer; Stephanie M., wife of Robert Warner; Brian P., husband of Hannah M. (Haynes) Moretti; Corinne N. (Moretti), wife of Daniel Hauk; Denise B. (Kramer), wife of Matthew Pouss; Matthew D., husband of Lauren Procopio; Melody R. Weister; and Melanie L. (Kramer), wife of Kenneth Jackson.

Other survivors include 12 great grandchildren: Andrew Kramer, Catharine Kramer, Dominic Warner, Joseph Kramer, Celia Hauk, Everett Epting, Makayla Warner, Escher Epting, Theodore Hauk, Natalie Rene Pouss, Monica A. Pouss, and Giuliana Procopio.

There is also a brother surviving, John F. Dorman, widower of Regina of Crescent City, California.

Dolores was predeceased by two brothers: Andrew J., and Robert P. Dorman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 28th at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. A viewing will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 AM in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605.

Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Muhlenberg Township.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Margaret’s R.C. Church, 925 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA 19601.
