Obituary for GENEVIEVE C. MCANALLY

Genevieve C. (Gildea) McAnally, 90, passed away at Penn State Health, St.

Joseph Hospital on Monday, October 15, 2018.

Born in Mount Carmel on November 8, 1927, she was the daughter of the late

Cornelius R. and Mary (Fidnarick) Gildea.

She was a 1945 graduate of Mt. Carmel Catholic High School and a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. Genevieve worked as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital prior to starting her family with the late Arthur W. McAnally of the PA State Police, who passed away on March 1, 1991. She worked as an R.N. at the Hawthorne Nursing Home for 23 years, retiring in 1985.

Genevieve is survived by two daughters, Patricia, of Reading, and Kathleen Strong, wife of Kevin, in Exeter Township. There are two grandchildren, Colleen, wife of Terrance Strong, and Casey Strong, in DeLand, Fla.; and a brother, William Robert Gildea, in Elmira, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by one son, Michael McAnally; three brothers: Cornelius, Martin and Philip; as well as two sisters, Mary Gildea and Mildred Szymanski.

Visitation with friends and family will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial starting at 11:00 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C., 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading.

Interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
