Obituary for Francis X. Ennis

Francis X. Ennis of Drexel Hill, a true gentleman and a man of deep faith, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2023. He was 90 years old. Born on August 18, 1933, Frank grew up on Durfor Street in South Philadelphia. He had a charisma and charm that made him a friend to people that knew him for 5 years or 5 minutes. He enjoyed spending time on his deck as much as he loved traveling the world. A loyal Philadelphia sports fan, he was a lifelong supporter of his beloved Phillies and Eagles. Nothing brought him more joy, however, than being with his cherished family, especially his beautiful wife, Peggy.

Frank attended St. Monica's School and Southeast Catholic High School. He later served his country in the Army. Frank ran his own business, Delco Graphics, for over 30 years. He was a dedicated member of St. Bernadette Parish.

For nearly 50 years, Frank was a world-class dart player. Known as “Mr. Consistency,” he won numerous local and national competitions, and represented the United States in England. An annual match-play tournament is held in his honor at the Columbia Social Club in Philadelphia.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Peggy, his children, Jane (Kevin), Noreen (Walt), Barbara (Matt), Kristine (Brian), and Tom (Audrey), his sister, Loretta (Bill), and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Helen, and his siblings Harry, Jean, and Bill.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernadette Church in Drexel Hill, with a viewing beginning at 9:30.

Frank Ennis will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His warmth, love, and zest for life will forever be remembered.
