Obituary for Mr. Gary Eugene Ginter
Gary Eugene Ginter, 81, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 at his residence. He was the beloved of Treva A. Grove to whom he shared his life with for over 50 years.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will take place on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM located at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., Red Lion, with Reverand Stephany Sechrist officiating the service. There will be a viewing prior from 10-11:00 AM at the funeral home. A Graveside Service located at Greenmount Cemetery will follow.
Born March 14, 1942 in York, he was a son of the late Gordon N. Ginter, Sr. and Margaret A. (George) Ginter.
Gary graduated from West York Senior High School with the Class of 1960. In high school, he played basketball and baseball and continued to enjoy it in his adult life by playing baseball for Shiloh on their Central League and also played softball for the Viking Club. He was also an avid golfer and his favorite course was Yorktowne. Mr. Ginter was the owner/operator of Gary Ginter Pest Control for 40+ years. He was known as “The Bug Man.” Outside of sports and work, he was also a member of York County Optimist Club, where he served as President, Vice President and Lieutenant Governor of the PA Upper Delaware District. He was also a past member of Victory Club and 12th Ward Political Club. Gary volunteered at the Appell Center and Pullo Center on the Penn State York Campus during his retirement years.
In addition to Treva, he is survived by a son John D. Ginter; a step-daughter Traci Grove; two step grandchildren Rachel Grove and Mitchell Grove; a brother Gordon N. Ginter, Jr.; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a step-son Todd Grove; a brother Larry Ginter; and a sister Phyllis Ginter.
