Obituary for Mr. Mark Wayne Hummel

On Thursday, October 26, 2023, Mark W. Hummel, 68, passed away at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill.  He was the son of the late Ray and Charlotte (Peters) Hummel on May 25, 1955, in York.

Mark was the devoted husband to Debbie (Bucher) Hummel for 43 years.  He is also survived by his daughter Lauren (Hummel) Gard, husband Keith and his granddaughter Lily Mae of Camp Hill, younger sister Julie Hummel of Windsor, younger brother Luke Hummel of Dover, sister-in-law Wanda (Bucher) and Greg Forsythe, brother-in-law Wade and Barbara (Pioli) Bucher, and nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by older brother John Hummel.

The bulk of Mark’s work years were pridefully dedicated to Central Penn Sales in Newberry Township as a driver and then a dispatch supervisor. Most of his other work also revolved around vehicles at NAPA, Bratton Buick and Zirkle’s Sunoco.   He most often sported a beautifully detailed Ford F-150.

Along his journey, Mark especially enjoyed comedy, bike riding, bowling, motorcycles, fishing, drag racing, dirt track racing, remote-controlled cars, beach vacations, camping, restaurant dining, family gatherings and country music or music that spurred fond memories. He was always ready to support others’ needs and interests. Mark was a fun loving, peaceful, and caring gentleman.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday, November 2, 2023, at William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 2150 Carlisle Road, York, with The Rev. Bonnie Whittier officiating.  Viewing will be 10-11:00 AM.  Private burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
