Obituary for Mr. Lyndon T. Krebs

Lyndon Tuck Krebs, 91, of York, passed away Monday March 7, 2022 at UPMC Memorial. He was the husband of Barbara Ann (Troutman) Krebs with whom he would have celebrated a 71st wedding anniversary on March 24, 2022.

Lyndon was born on August 1st, 1930 in Glen Rock, the youngest child of the late Levi T. and Beulah I. (Tuck) Krebs. He was the President of his Glen Rock High School class of 1948, and went on to receive an associate degree from Penn State University in Construction and Building Management. Mr. Krebs served his country in the United States Navy Reserves.

Lyndon worked most of his career in the construction industry, focusing on sewage treatment and water treatment facilities. He did both estimating and project management work for a variety of companies over the years. When he retired, he devoted himself to woodworking. His shop turned out small projects like Christmas ornaments as well as major pieces of furniture, all of which were gifted to family and friends. He was happiest to undertake a custom project when it required buying a new piece of woodworking equipment.

Lyndon had a strong baritone voice which he deployed for years in his church choir and as a member of the Glen Rock Carolers. He also played with the Glen Rock Band and the York Drum and Bugle Corp as a young man. Lyndon was a life member of the Shiloh American Legion Post 791.

Lyndon served as the president of the Aquatic Club at the YMCA where he helped to build the electronic timer for the Newberry Street pool. He was the starter for many swimming meets, both locally and nationally, including for the US Olympic trials in Chicago in 1976.

In addition to his wife Barbara Troutman Krebs of York, he is survived by three daughters, Susan Krebs and her husband David Confer of York; Gale Yinger and her husband Jon of York; and Lynette Krebs and her wife JoAnn Edwards of New Bern, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Allison Yinger, William Yinger, Nathaniel Yinger, Kristen Schaible, Daniel Confer, and Anne Confer Martens, as well as ten great grandchildren; and a brother Leroy E. Krebs of York. He was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Krebs, a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Yinger, his sister, Helen M. Krebs, and a brother, Millard E. Krebs.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
