Obituary for Billy Adair Arthur

Billy A. Arthur (Age 90) passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. He is survived by his son Richard L. Arthur. 

Billy was born on July 28, 1933 in Aberdeen, Mississippi. He graduated from Aberdeen High School, later attending the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY graduating in 1955.

 In June 1961 Billy, then Captain Billy A. Arthur, married Rachel Meadows in the Fort Benning, GA, Post Chapel. Together they moved often, from West Point, NY, Heidelberg, Germany, Berlin, Germany and back to Fort Benning. Throughout their years of moving they also traveled extensively all through the US and Europe. 

After retirement from the Army he entered Civil Service and was posted back to Heidelberg, Germany for many years ultimately being reassigned to Washington, DC. They made their home in Alexandria, VA.

After finally retiring for good Billy and Rachel devoted their time to their loves; their cats, traveling and antiques. Over the years they  made thirty two trips to the UK to buy antiques for their shop "Rae's Collectibles" that was located in Alexandria, VA. Billy also enjoyed golf and volunteering with cat rescue organizations.

Rachel died suddenly and unexpectedly in 2016 leaving Billy bereft and heart broken.
