Obituary for Robert C. York

Robert Charles (Rob) York, 1957- Jan.9, 2023, Passed away at the age of 65, after a brief illness. He was the fourth of five children born to Raymond C. York and UVee Yonker York, and he was one of 32 cousins from either side of his family, who loved him and remember him fondly. Rob was born in Darby, Pa., and grew up in the close-knit community of the Highland Park section of Upper Darby, Pa. He made lifelong friendships during his time growing up on South Madison Ave., and while attending Beverly Hills Middle School and Upper Darby
High School, which he graduated from in 1975.

He participated, with his dad, in the YMCA Indian Guides program and played many sports while growing up, his favorites being football and wrestling, which he lettered in at school, along with Judo, which he competed into a level that made him very proud.

After graduation, Rob married and lived, for a period of time, in Ocean City NJ. where his son, Robbie was born. After having lived in both Perry Hall and Westminster, MD, he moved to the home in Oxford, Pa., where he lived for the remainder of his life.
He loved motorcycles, raising big dogs, and attending Wesley Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Bible Study and where cultivated his relationship with his Lord and Savior.

He was also known to be a regular attendee at any Bull Roast he might be able to find within a one-hundred-mile radius, but he most loved being a Dad and a “Pap”. Rob was predeceased by his loving parents, and his big brother, Steve. He is survived by three sisters, Wendy York-Feirn (Bill), Sherri Smith (Ed), and Tracy Gormley (Joe), nine nieces, a nephew, and nine great nieces and nephews, also by his ex-wife and Mother of his son, Michelle (Shelly) Martino, son, Robert Aaron, daughter-in-law, Sarah Weaver York, and beloved granddaughter, Frances, as well as his longtime companion, Cheryl Atwood and family.

Services were held at Wesley Church on January 19, 2023 and a private interment is planned.
