Obituary for Dylan Alexander Sweat

Dylan Alexander Sweat, 14, of Olathe passed away on August 8, 2023.

He was born May 5, 2009 (Cinco de Mayo) at Shawnee Mission Hospital. Dylan was an incoming freshman at Gardner-Edgerton High School. He loved to draw anime in his spare time. Dylan enjoyed playing X-Box and built an amazing world in MineCraft. He would always tell fun facts by starting the conversation off with “Did you know…?” This led to his parents making him a shirt for his birthday that said “did you know?” He opened his gift and shook his head, laughing and said “I can’t believe you had this made”. Dylan loved the beach. He was known at school as Dorito Dylan. Over the last 7 years he bonded with his cat by playing ball with him.

Dylan was preceded in death by his grandparents: Leroy and Kay sweat; and aunt Tonya Sweat.

He is survived by his parents; Scott and Tiffany Sweat; uncles: Shawn Sweat and Jeremy Deason; aunts: Sabrina Deason and Jessica Deason; cousins: Aaron, Mitchell, Nicholas and Kyle Dowty, Freddie, Kelly Deason, Jade Deason, Cole Huffman, Ryan Sweat and Hannah Kaplanis; and grandparents: Ken Deason and Debra Deason.

Visitation will be Friday, August 25, 2023 from 5pm – 9pm at McGilley and Frye Funeral Home, 105 E Loula St., Olathe, KS 66061. Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 1pm at First Christian Church, 200 E Loula St., Olathe, KS 66061. Burial will follow at Olathe Memorial Cemetery, 730 N Chestnut St., Olathe, KS 66061.
