Adele was a native of Crowley, Louisiana and a recent resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. She graduated from St. Michael High School in Crowley in 1958 and was a 1962 graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Tri Sigma Sorority as well as an academic honor society. After completing her education at USL, she earned her Master's Degree in Education Administration from McNeese State University, where she was one of the only women in her 1969 graduating class.

Following in the footsteps of her devoted parents, Adele became an accomplished and respected woman in her profession as an educator for almost 60 years. She touched many lives throughout her career as she taught in several places including New Orleans, Chalmette, Lake Charles, and her hometown of Crowley. After completing her education, she moved back home to Crowley where she taught at South Crowley Elementary, and later became Principal, one of the first females to fulfill that role in the Acadia Parish School system. She would then move on to the Acadia Parish School Board where she served as Supervisor of Elementary Education. As one of the only female administrators to serve in a senior leadership role, she encountered several unique challenges. She faced these challenges with tenacity, strength, and grace that garnered the respect of her peers and colleagues. Her no nonsense leadership style paved the way for those who would follow her.

Her passion for teaching remained throughout her life. Following her retirement, she volunteered her time reading to children through the United Way “Reading Across America” program. She also volunteered at the Crowley Soup Kitchen and at the Miles Perrett Center in Lafayette.

Adele was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the library, traveling, visiting with family and friends, and her participation in her book club as well as the Crowley 310 Club. As a history buff, she appreciated her time as a member of the Acadia and Galvez chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Adele was a devout Catholic and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Michael Catholic Church in Crowley before moving to Lafayette where she attended Holy Cross Catholic Church. She instilled a strong devotion to the catholic faith in both of her daughters and raised her family with unconditional love. Adele had a practical approach to life yet was very forgiving and loving. Above all, she inspired a strong sense of independence and the importance of family values. Friends and family appreciated and admired her quick-wit, intelligence, and dry sense of humor. She enjoyed preparing Sunday dinner for her family and was known to host many family events without hesitation. Her family was always welcome in her home.

Pallbearers will be Jake George, Jeffrey Miles Frank, André Carr, Garrett George, Connor George, and Jonathan Booth.
