Obituary for Ms. Barbara A. Baker

Barbara A. Baker, 92, passed on Sunday March 5, 2023 at SpiriTrust Lutheran at Kelly Dr. in York, PA.

Barbara was born in York on October 31, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Ivan F. and Catharine (Gotwalt) Baker. Barbara was a 1948 graduate of William Penn Sr. High School and a 1950 graduate of The York Junior College. She worked for several years for Costal Tank Lines. She was a lifelong member of Heidelberg United Church of Christ in York.

Barbara was a lover of cats and of great music. She enjoyed choir membership at Heidelberg as well as involvement in the Matinee Music Club of York. She was especially fond of the pipe organ at Heidelberg as her mother was part of a selection committee for the beautiful instrument and played there when Barbara was young.

Barbara is preceded in death by a sister, Delia (Baker) Kuhn. She is survived by three nephews and their wives; David B. Kuhn, Samuel B. Kuhn and Robert P. Kuhn.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday March 11, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery, 700 North George Street, York with Gale Wenk duPont, Interim Pastoral Care/Visitation minister and Pastor Carla Christopher, Senior Pastor of Heidelberg Church officiating. Those attending the graveside service should meet at the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance of the cemetery at 10:15 a.m. An informal time to visit, reflect and celebrate Barbara’s life will follow the graveside service from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Heidelberg Church, 47 West Philadelphia Street, York (enter through doors on Philadelphia St. please).
